[Things have been difficult for him lately and he's been avoiding "certain people" with a vengeance, but there is always one thing that he knows can cheer him up.

Souji opens his journal one day and with as bright and cheerful a voice as he can muster (which is kind of like rainbows barfing sunshine) he says:]

So who here is being a grumpy grump after the holidays? I know you're out there~

I've heard of at least two: the one with the spiky hair who hates being asked about it and the one with the skirt who hates it being called a skirt.

There have to be more, aren't there? [He degrades into what sounds like baby talk.] So who's being a grumpy-wumpy bear, hm?

[Rei shakes her head and sighs]

Have you been drinking?

No. [He puffs his cheeks out a bit.] I don't like alcohol, contrary to what most people here might think.

Oh, but I did have five of those little coloured sugar sticks. That doesn't count though, that's normal.

Pixel-Sticks? Or candy canes?

[That is not normal. Especially for someone from your era! Weirdo.]

Mmm... [He taps a finger against his cheek.] Which one comes in little paper tubes of coloured sugar?

Pixel Sticks.

[Ugh.]

You ate five of them? No wonder...

Oh no, that's normal. I can't find the candies I'm used to, so I started eating these.

[He laughs.]

This is nothing compared to the time I ate an entire cake and pie in a day.

...What kind of candies do you usually eat?

[She shudders at the thought.]

That sounds like a really good way to get really fat, Souji-san.

And no, I don't think I'm a grumpy-grump. I'm just concerned for you.

Oh...a bit of this and a bit of that. Whatever Hijikata-san would buy for me when I made him or the special manju of the week at the local stores. Kyoto has the best sweets, after all.

And I'm not fat. It was only once - someone asked me which I liked best so I had to test it.

[He pauses and then adds later.]

And that's right, you're not a grumpy-grump.

Just a voyeur.

[She blushes profusely, and shakes her head.]

Only...only with my dear friends who are sometimes too boneheaded to see what's right in front of them. And you were hardly being private!

I only went in there to see what Cliff-san looked like as a girl. It's not my fault you two were up there spying on us.

And it's not my fault you were being so public. But honestly, I think it's very sweet. I just couldn't look away, because it made me very happy, seeing you two together like that.

Well, thank you, but the public nature wasn't exactly intentional.

Soooo, how long have you and Fayt-kun been conspiring?

Since we went to the moon. But it looked like you and Cliff-san didn't need our help, after all.
