[Despite being gone for weeks and just now showing up again, Okita doesn't seem all that worried. In fact, he's out making snowmen in the middle of the town square despite the hour and the snowfall. After making one or two small snowpeople and a small snow fort, he picks up his journal to announce his return.]

It seems I'm back now. The snow is nice.

Does anyone know how much time has passed? I suppose Ayumu-san will scold me. Let's not tell her right away, hm?

They say demons cause many problems in my time. Bad harvests, rain storms, sickness, murderers.

I suppose theories and ideas change over the years. Advances in technology and medicine can bring forth new insight. However, I find it best to keep an open mind on things. [Ginia grins and begins working on the next section of the body.]

[Okita looks at Ginia for a moment, as if considering her.

Then he smiles suddenly, very brightly.]

[Ginia blushes slightly and gives a tiny laugh.] Oh, thank you. I guess you mean Giles by "he"?

If that's the 'he' you're thinking of, then yes.

[Okita smirks.]

He never said anything outright to me, but it doesn't take much to guess.

[There's a pause before Ginia grins and laughs. Oh, well played.]

No, no, it doesn't.

[He's a creepy stalker on the side. /shot]

So~ how long have you two been together then?

[The best kind! No, wait.]

Three months now, though I've known him since July.

Also, Ginia, you will never be free of Okita's busybody ways now.]

He's a very kind person, isn't he? I hope you're getting him out and about a bit more.

He is, and I have been! He accompanies me to parties and other gatherings. He's getting a bit better at getting away from the walls.

[Nope, no cockblocking! At least not intentionally.]

Yes! I've been teaching him the waltz. He's gotten quite good. [Said with a hit of pride.]

[Well, Okita doesn't live with them. He'd have to go out of his way to fall through the roof like Japan did in order to do any meaningful cockblock.]

Yes, that would be it. It's quite lovely. Easy too, so it was a nice starting place for him.

It sounds like you're doing wonders for him then.

I never set out to change him or anything, but it's nice seeing him more relaxed when he's out at parties.

We never set out to change people. It just happens the more we're with them.

[Souji weighs out two small pebbles and sticks them in his sleeve. Then he turns and starts packing a small snowball, making it larger and larger.]

It'd be nice to see him relaxed at all.

How true those words are. I've been changed by him, by many people here.

[Ginia hoists the middle section onto the first and begins smoothing the joints together. Look at that happy snowperson coming together.]

I agree. Stress really doesn't suit him at all.

[He stops his work to look at what Ginia is doing, smiling at what she's created.]

Stress hardly suits anyone, I think. Especially not in a time of relative peace like this.

It really doesn't. And all things considered, it's been a nice winter. It's been... better than I thought it would be.

[Okita smiles at that and goes back to making his little pig snowman.]

Do you usually not have nice winters?

They are cold, often filled with trouble. Cities that never sleep always have something going on.

[She'll begin on rolling up a head.]

I suppose that is the difference with the future and the past. Winter is one of our quietest times.

In think my world, things are busy year-round. Millions of people living in the big cities, things stay active.

So every city is like Edo then. That must be exciting.
