[Okita is feeling better so he went back to his graveyard shifts at the Welcome Center, mostly to distract himself from Nagakura leaving and now Kohaku being missing. Now that the New Feathers are arriving, he's been somewhat busy with preparation for the morning shifts so that helps keep his mind off things. He likes to leave breakfast ready for people as he leaves in the morning, so people in the Welcome Center might find a traditional Japanese breakfast (fish, rice, miso soup, pickled vegetables) left for them when they wake up.

After, he heads toward the barracks for practice, which is when he opens his journal.]

Good morning, Luceti! And welcome to all the new arrivals who are beginning to settle in. I hope you're all doing well. I sure am! Much better than before, at least. Especially now that the weather has cleared!

I know it's quite early yet, but if anyone would like to train a bit in the barracks? I'd love to have a partner. Kaku-san? Anyone?

Yeah...we should probably stick with the hand to hand anyway. I was trained for kill shots when it comes to weaponry. I have good control, but would rather not push my luck.

As was I. Whenever you're free then. I usually head to the barracks for training early in the mornings.

Fresh and in case our supplies get cut off, yeah. The more self sufficient we are, the better off we'll be, I think.

With a war right outside the gates, so to speak? Wouldn't surprise me if it did happen. Hopefully, the Malnosso have it down well enough that it's not a worry, but...it's war. Shit happens.

Mm...you have a point. Wars do have a way of getting far out of hand.

Yeah, they do. And the first thing to go tends to be the supplies.

It does seem that way. It's the basics of strategy, after all.

And now they know the Malnosso use us as their own personal army.

I just hope the enemy can't access our networks then.

If they can, they probably already have. We'd have no way of telling.

...what was it like out there? If you don't mind me asking?

It was always night. We were pretty disorganized, over all. I spent most of my time on the outer border. It was more like skirmishes until the last part. We found their base. Took care of it.

[He notes all of this - especially the part about the night.]

...I see. Nothing you could note about the enemy?

Fully winged, like the ones that invaded Luceti before. But no magic, and mostly weapons like swords. They kept silent, even under duress. And were just as determied to kill any of us they could find. And better orgainized.

I wonder what their purpose is and if they are the Third Party - or just another hapless group of experiments like us.

Honest opinion? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure they're tied to te Malnosso a lot more deeply than they let on.

Do you think they might be some sort of rebel group?

Or the Malnosso are.

....now that is something I never considered.

It makes a twisted sort of sense.

Whether I'm right or not, though, remains to be seen.
