To those who knew Nagakura Shinpachi, he's been sent back where he is needed most.

[There's a short pause]

I'm sorry for being quiet for so long. I'm afraid this rain and the cold have me feeling under the weather.

[Okita will open the door and bow slightly to Sonic. He's got a thick jacket draped over his shoulders to help keep up the 'cold' excuse.]

Hello, Sonic-san. How are you today?

[He nodded to him and quickly stepped inside so as not to bring any cold air into the apartment.]

I'm all right! 'Thought we could just talk a bit. ... I had a friend go home on me too.

[Okita will close the door almost all the way, keeping a wary ear to the tea kettle he put on in the kitchen.]

Ah... Was it a close friend?

[He nodded in response.]

Hehe, I'd call him that, yeah. He was the only other one from my world here. What about you? 'You holding up okay?

How long ago was it?

[Okita coughs a bit and sits down on his bed, motioning Sonic toward a nearby chair.]

I'll feel much better once I get over my illness.

You mean since he left? Probably a couple days ago.

[He quickly moved over to the chair as indicated.]

'You sure you don't need anything? Anothe blanket or something?

Ah...so very recently. You have my condolences, Sonic-san.

And yes, I'm quite sure. I've more than enough now.

[He hears the kettle whistle and pushes himself out of bed, moving toward the door with a smile. I'll be back shortly.

Aw, 'salright! He should be home, and I'm glad it's him, not me.

Okay, if you're sure! [He jumped up from the chair once he saw Okita get up.] Hey! 'You sure you don't need any help with that? You're the one that's sick!

Oh? You don't want to go home?

Ah, and I'll be fine. It's just a short walk and I can't stay inside this room all day.

I do! But I always told 'im if it had to be one of the two of us to go home, it should be him. I got no regrets bein' here. It's way more fair this way.

[He nodded, still a little worried despite Okita's reassurance.] All right. I getcha though, it's not cool bein' all cooped up all the time!

You're a very strong person, Sonic-san. Not many would say that.

[He smiles and then ducks out, going into the kitchen. It'll be a few minutes before he returns with tea on a tray and a few Japanese sweets to go with it. He enters and sets one cup and a plate of sweets next to it on a table near Sonic.] I hope these are to your liking.

Aw, just doin' my thing, that's all. I'll be all right here! He's from my future, and he saw me there, so I gotta believe things'll be fine.

[His ears flicked and his wings fluttered lightly. Okita, you really know how to spoil him. XD] Thanks! Hey, but it's like last time, okay? You hafta have some too!

[Sadly, Shinpachi was from Okita's future, so he knows the exact opposite.] That's a good thing then. I'm glad your world will be alright.

Ah...I shouldn't. Not with the cough right now. But perhaps later.

[Poor thing. ;__;] Hehe, it better be! He's not doin' his job if it's not, though the whole savin' the world part is usually my thing.

Okay, but next time! The tea'll probably help with the cough. I could run out and get you some candy or cough drops if you think that'll help too!

[Okita takes his tea and sits in an opposite seat, pulling the blanket a little closer around him as he smiles at Sonic.] Perhaps when you get back, if it isn't, you should scold him.

Ah and I should be fine. Just some tea and a bit more rest and I'll be back on my feet.

Hehe, you know I will! [He sipped some of his tea too after trying out one of the sweets.] I'll hafta go and fix everything he couldn't take care of!

[He held onto his cup since it was warm.] Just say the word, y'know, if you need any help! Don't worry 'bout me, I wanna do what I can for you!

You'll be kept very busy then! Hopefully he keeps up his part of the world.

[He's always amazed that Sonic is so helpful to him, not really sure why, but thankful for it all the same.] You're far too kind to me. Thank you, Sonic-san.

Me too! My friends back home will help him out, heh, even if he thinks he doesn't need it!

[He took another sip of tea, his ears flicking.] Aw, hey, it's no problem! 'Glad that I could help out a friend. You've helped me too!

Is he a very stubborn hero?

It would seem I'm more in your debt than the other way around, however.

[Sonic laughed, his wings fluttering behind him.] Stubborn as hell, heh! If he were here, he'd totally say he's not a hero, but he is. But what about your friend? What's he like?

Aw, don't think of it like that! You're a friend, and that's what matters to me.

[He laughs a bit, too, at that description.] Heroes often don't like to think of themselves as such. And Nagakura-san?

...

He's a jokester, always getting a laugh out of us. But he's very loyal and very concerned for his friends...

[And possibly out there dying right now. Okita quickly changes the subject.]

I think he'd like you. You're just the sort of friend he likes.

[He nodded, not knowing about the latter part of Okita's thoughts, but liked the way Shinpachi was described.]

Yeah, 'wish I met him! Sounds like my kinda guy. Anyone who's concerned for their friends is already pretty awesome.

I do think you two would have gotten along. I'm sorry that you never had the opportunity to meet.

Nah, not your fault! Probably not meant to be, but hey, doesn't mean later one we won't meet!

[He finished his cup of tea and set it down on the saucer on the table.] 'You think you're gonna be all right? You're sure?

I suppose I should say I hope not though - as it would mean removing him yet again from his duty.

[Okita still hasn't had much of his and he looks down at the teacup for a moment.] I have to be so I will be.
