To those who knew Nagakura Shinpachi, he's been sent back where he is needed most.

[There's a short pause]

I'm sorry for being quiet for so long. I'm afraid this rain and the cold have me feeling under the weather.

Please... just... leave that alone.

If you wish, but keeping her at arm's length only hurts you both.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Don't be absurd... it can hardly hurt her. She doesn't even know who I am. It's better this way...

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Does it comfort you to hide in your hole and ignore your connections to people to "spare" yourself pain? You're doing no one any good by shutting yourself away behind excuses of illness and amnesia. Eventually she will remember and when she does, your denial of friendship will hurt her more than you can imagine.

But do as you like, Patchouli-san. I am not in any position to force your hand.

-Quit being so damn right, Souji-

And just how do you know it will come back?

And even then, I was hardly the sort of friend she deserved.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know it won't? It sounds more like you're deciding things for her, without her consent, just to make things easier on yourself now.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's not for my sake that I do this...

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you presume to know this is what she wants?

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not what she wants... It's what she needs.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
And if you say you're no longer friends, who are you to decide that?

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
You assume you know what she needs and what is best for her, while not taking what she feels and thinks into the equation. And while you say you are better off not friends, you certainly display a high level of so-called concern in keeping her away from you as if it is in her best interests.

Really, isn't it just that you're upset she's forgotten everything and not willing to expend the effort to get to know her again? It's childish of you, Patchouli-san.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
...but do as you like. I've said too much.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I...

I don't know if I can do this. I don't know what to do.

-People were so much easier to understand in books...-

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Do as you did when you first met her.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
But I don't even know what I did.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-09 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Talk to her. Silence is a great way to remain forgotten.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-10 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
You make this sound far easier than it actually is, you know.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-11 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
And you're making it harder than it needs to be.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
And you expect everything to be easy?

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
N-no, I... I...

-And the book is slammed shut.-

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He sighs slightly even though she can't hear it, wondering if he went too far and then closes the book himself.]
