Enemies; hatred is a terrible thing |
She was like our big sister at the Mibu compound. She took care of our wounds, helped do our laundry, woke up the men in the morning, cooked all our meals. And then one day she was stolen from us by the Choushu and the traitor Furutaka Shuntaro, aka Masuya Kiemon. We sought revenge for her death, and we got it. We captured and tortured him, forcing him to reveal his plans. Thanks to her sacrifice, we saved the capital from being burned to the ground and were finally recognized by the people of Kyoto as the protectors that we always wanted to be. But that didn't make her death any easier to handle. All of us missed her terribly, and many of us took responsibility for her death in different ways. Both Hijikata-san and Yamazaki-san were the worst affected, but Nagakura-san also had a hard time accepting her loss. To see her again well and happy is beyond our greatest dreams, but our greatest fear that she might be stolen from us again is ever present. She seems to have settled into Luceti well, even finding love. She knows what awaits her if she ever goes home. I hope that day never comes. |
My student here in Luceti. Sokka-kun is the brother of Katara, and one of the more well known residents here. He helps run the blacksmith's store and so I'd run into him a few times, if casually, before meeting him full on. The way I really got to know him is as his teacher. He is the first and only person I've taught here and it's refreshing to have someone under my tutelage again. He wants to learn how to use the sword and how to fight multiple enemies at once, something I can understand quite well. I'm passing my knowledge of the Tennen Rishin style to him and he's done so well at it, even if he still has a ways to go. Sokka-kun is a fast learner and while he isn't a genius, he is inventive and that is the most important trait a swordsman can have. He is determined, but he also knows my secret and sometimes I fear it weighs on him. Sokka-kun has great talent, but he really does need to loosen up a bit. I tricked him into dancing for me when the journals were cursed with music, but that backfired a little and got me, too. It was fine though. I really enjoyed just having fun with him. My dual nature probably annoys him a little since he probably came looking for a fierce and scary teacher, but I think it's more fun to show him both sides. I did the same with the men back at the dojo, anyway. He will be my greatest legacy left here, even if he doesn't know it. |
We first met during a...pretty embarrassing experiment that had me trying to be something called a "Vegas Show Girl." I still don't entirely know what that is, but Derek-san tried to convince me not to do it even as he tried to be as helpful as possible. Since then we've spoken often through the journals and sometimes in person, too. He's a good friend to me here and I value the trust he puts in our relationship. I found him one night out in the forest and discovered that he has a secret like me; only much more deadly. Apparently he's been infected by things called vampires in his world, and when he dies, he'll become one of them. He's keeping this a secret from the general populace though, so I'm doing what I can to keep it, too. Otherwise, Derek-san is pretty good with his hands and he's learning to garden, along with being something of a fighter and a swordsman. He also sings sometimes over the journals and I like listening in to it. I've never heard most of the songs he sings, but they're very interesting. And he cooks. He fed me a few times when I wasn't able to cook for myself and while the foods are strange, they're actually pretty good. For awhile, Derek-san also disappeared, but recently he has returned. Considering the number of times I've lost friends here, I'm still wary that he will leave again, but he seems to be staying this time and I took care of his plant, Spot, for him while he was on a mission. Hopefully, I can learn to be friends with him again. |
Although we haven't spoken much, I met her once or twice and she seems to be a cheery type with interesting friends like Sanji-san and that...green-haired man who fell asleep on the roof in a thunderstorm. And Luffy-san, too. She's part of their crew on a large ship and is apparently quite the leader-figure for them. I never expected a woman to be in such a role. Her spirit and energy impressed me when I first spoke with her, and her friends seem intimately tied to what happens here in the village. I'm going to keep my eye on them all just to see what other fun things they get up to. Besides, she seems to get under Smoker-san's skin and that's always funny to watch. |
The God of War - or rather, the demi-god of it, Homura-san has been hanging about with us since he first arrived in Luceti. He has an arrogance to him, but it isn't the sort that bothers. He is, after all, a god, so I suppose some arrogance is to be expected. What's really important is what has happened since - he seems to have taken to Ayumu-san and the two of them are in a relationship, a deep one if the fact that he lives with us now is any indication. At first, I had my own misgivings about such a thing happening, but she seems happy and despite Homura-san's penchant for pushing buttons that I would rather be left alone, he seems to be doing good things for Ayumu-san. His companionship is important to her, even if she won't recognize it herself, and he has no ill intentions. I think they both just wish to be...happy - a feeling that they both may have been bereft of in life. When the time comes, he'll keep her company, and for that, I am thankful to him. |
When I first met Haruhi-san, she was Haruki-kun. I met Haruki-kun when he mentioned Nagakura-san's name on a list of the missing from his club. That he was trusted enough with Nagakura-san's real name and that Nagakura-san would join such a group was enough to garner my interest in him. But eventually Haruki-kun left and in his place returned the girl known as Suzumiya Haruhi. To her, all of Haruki's memories are her own, and so I've been getting to know her as well. She knows a great deal about us, but more than that, Haruhi-san is just as interesting as her male self. She's unique - a bit eclectic in a way and sometimes more than a little bit petulant, but she's a good person deep down and she cares a great deal for those she has in her club. The club itself is called the S.O.S. Brigade and is one of the most vocal groups here in the village responsible for a good deal of the entertaining happenings here. Haruhi-san seems to hate being bored and likes to talk about the most unusual things. Despite all that, she's otherwise a very normal girl and it's a bit surprising to see how well she's adjusted to this place. |
Such a quiet boy, but a good one. We've met a few times, but like the others Minato-kun refuses to tell me much about the past. It's understandable, sure, but it's getting a bit frustrating. I know some things from what Nagakura-san has told me, but I want to know more. I want to be able to help. Anyway, Minato-kun seems to have a nice group of friends, too, so that's good. I like hanging out with him because even if the boy doesn't say a whole lot, he's usually doing something or other that I find interesting. Recently it was making a snow fortress even if he had no enemies to fight against. One worrisome thing, however, is that Minato-kun seems to fall asleep if left on his own too long. I hope he's not sick or anything. |
Litchi-san came to my aide after I was attacked by the shadow creature known as Pride. As a healer, she and Derek-san made sure I didn't die from the extensive wounds I received at Pride's hands. They then transported me to the Clinic where Litchi-san tended to me until I was well enough to return home. Litchi-san has helped me on several occasions since and I think she is a lovely woman. There was once some trouble with her where she apparently attacked people against her will. She was...killed, but I do not know more than that. Once she returned, she helped me with curing my disease, but was sent home shortly after that. With no one else to turn to that I can trust, I've been trying to sneak the same medicines she gave me from the Clinic from time to time, but they're lowering in efficiency. I have heard she has returned, but without knowing how much she remembers, I'm staying quiet. |
Vash-san is one of the more colorful residents here. Unlike other fighters of his caliber, he prefers the path of peace and will actively try to save even his enemies from injury and death. He has a good heart and no doubt some reason for this, and while I can't agree with his philosophy, I find his conviction to it admirable. He lived nearby when I was still in the Community Building so I often spoke with him or at least greeted him in the halls. He tells me interesting stories about his life back home, too, which I appreciate since I've never been abroad and will likely never get the chance. His friends Meryl and Wolfwood are interesting people, too, but I've only ever spoken briefly to Wolfwood-san and only spoke to Meryl once or twice - most recently when an enemy of Vash's appeared from his world. |
Smoker-san is so amusing~ For someone who looks so scary at first, he's actually a really nice man. He apparently comes from Luffy-san's world, but instead of being on their side, he's one of the 'Marines' or the people who catch pirates. I wasn't aware that what Nami-san and her friends did was illegal, but looking back on it I should have. Smoker-san has a very strict sense of justice, but I think he'd bend the rules a little if it was necessary to do the right thing. He apparently has powers like some people here tend to, and his is to turn his body into smoke. I promised not to tell anyone in return for him showing me one day. I can't wait to see it! It sounds so interesting. He also helped make Saizou a watermelon boat and came to see me when I was ill. For all his big scary toughness, he's just a softy inside, but don't tell him that or he'll growl. ...Or do tell him and you can laugh when he does. He just recently returned from a trip home, so he's a little different now. |
Another resident of Community Building 4, I met him during the Tease invasion and we fought together to protect this place. Hughes-san is a hand-to-hand fighter who works with knives and I offered him a blade in case he needed one. He prefers short knives to full blades. He's a very amiable person otherwise and very helpful to all the new people. He told me that many people think they're dead when they arrive because wings are apparently a symbol of the afterlife for cultures like his. I wonder if that's true though? In Japan, the ghosts never seem to have wings, so I wasn't aware of that idea. He's keeping an eye out for any more New Feathers for me and if I have the chance, I'd like to speak with him more. |
I don't know her very well, although I've seen her about and talked with her a few times. I knew of her more via reputation than actual talking. She and Giles-san had a relationship up until the time he disappeared, and I know she made Giles-san very happy. It is for this reason that I worry for her now that he is gone, but she is surrounded by friends and a tight network of people she trusts, so it is for the best, I suppose. She was originally mute, but due to the magic of their housemate - a man named Helios - she has an amulet that allows her to speak. Ginia-san is very personable and talkative now that she is able, and I wish her luck in her time here. |
He's very pretty. That was my first impression of him. He has hair like the sun and large white wings - which almost made me mistake him for the Third Party. He's very serious and seems to be adjusting to life here, even if having lost his homeland and his ability to fly seems to be bothering him. Reyson-san is called a Laguz and he can transform into a giant heron. I've seen him do this and it's quite magnificent♥ For some reason, being around him makes it easier to stay positive about being in Luceti so I'd like to see him again sometime. He's helping me train Sokka-kun by scaring him sometimes - or so I hope. |
DROPPED CHARACTERS
Sasarai
One of the first to meet Okita when he arrived, Sasarai explained this place to him and helped him adjust a bit. Although they got off to a weird start since Okita's last 'contact' with any conception of the Western Church was in hearing about the shogun banning them from his country, he's since grown to be good friends with Sasarai. They often work the night shifts at the Welcome Center together, and they speak often over the journals. Following Okita's choice to go through the portal and his resulting injuries, Sasarai visited him at the Clinic and kept him company. Okita likes talking to Sasarai because he's interesting, and he's determined to show Sasarai that he's human, no matter what he is made of. Ironic, considering Okita still considers himself a demon more than a human.
Martel
Martel has been very kind to Okita, and he finds her fascinating. For such a small girl, she was able to lift a huge table with surprising ease. Her powers, as she described him, has led him to dub her 'the first angel I've ever met' and Okita finds her a delight to spend time with. As the founder of the Welcome Center along with Sasarai, Okita has taken to working the late night shifts - there are few people who come in, he can ensure that Martel sleeps, and he can avoid people hearing him cough at night. Okita does worry about Martel a lot, though, especially since she was on her own for awhile. He hopes she's found a good place to live and also hopes she begins to build a new family of people around her.
RED Medic (Tobias)
Okita started out merely bothering the Medic because he was Heavy Weapons Guy's friend. Or ally. One of those. Since he thinks the medical field is one of the most difficult jobs to hold, he respected the Medic up until he killed one of his patients for the sake of science. He recognized the signs of madness, but let the others take the Medic's punishment into their own hands. When it turned out that the Medic was merely held indefinitely in the tunnel, and that his punishment was driving him insane, Okita turned back and tried to befriend him again - in hopes that he'd be able to keep a closer watch for warning signs that he might kill again.
Instead, they ended up having a most unlikely friendship, one that Okita valued very much. The Medic would put up with Souji's whims and weirdness and Souji would try to keep the Medic from going insane here. He used to play the violin for Souji, which in turn caused Okita to try and learn the violin himself. Since the Medic left, Okita's interest in learning music has waned, although he still appreciates the arts very much.
RED Heavy Weapons Guy
Okita liked Heavy since they first met, even if he was a bit of an oddball. He felt terrible that Heavy was caught up with the Medic incident, but also respects the man for sticking to his friends. At first he thought Heavy was a bit slow, but Okita has since realized that this isn't entirely the case - more that he's enthusiastic and just doesn't realize his size. He was glad, though, that Heavy seemed to have found friends here, including working at the Welcome Center and hanging out with Arthur at Azzip. While he wishes he could speak with Heavy more often, he knows that people go their separate ways. He has the piglet with the hardhat that Heavy gave him during the Amusement Park Event sitting on his bed.
Alfons Heiderich
Alfons, Alfons. The boy is so bright and so kind, soft spoken and with so much potential for the future. It pains Okita to know what is going to happen to him, and that even in the future, the disease ravaging his body remains incurable. That he knows Alfons' fate is hard enough, but to see it happening to someone so young, someone who should be free of these sorts of burdens is even worse. To that end, Okita has befriended Alfons in an effort to make his life enjoyable as much as possible. Alfons' interest in rockets and science is far beyond Okita's understanding, but he likes to hear the boy talk about it anyway; the way his passion shows through is interesting and infectious. Okita hopes to maintain a strong relationship with him, but also wants to keep the fact that he, too, is sick a secret. He's also keeping his knowledge of Alfons' illness a secret because he knows how terrible it can be to look into someone's eyes and see them mourning you while you're still alive.
Hyuuga
Okita first met Hyuuga through a semi-mutual acquaintance - Konatsu - who is no longer in Luceti. At that time, Okita got the impression that Hyuuga was a bit of a handful, but he didn't think much on it. Following Konatsu's disappearance, Okita subsequently lost track of Hyuuga and put him out of mind. However, following the events of the Portal, Hyuuga is dead center on Okita's list. Hyuuga pushed Okita through the portal and even if the swordsman was going to go through anyway, he isn't very pleased with Hyuuga for doing that. He was able to pull the other man with him, but he still wants a bit of childish revenge since the portal shot him out over the forest and he fell forty feet through a bunch of trees. Hurting Hyuuga wouldn't go over well, but he doubts the citizens of Luceti would mind if Okita managed to dye Hyuuga's hair lime green and pink. The only complication is Hyuuga's friendship with Nami, as it appears she was hiding him from the angry mob following his kidnapping.
Yamcha
He shoots fire and energy from his hands. How awesome is that? Yamcha is a fighter, or so Okita assumes by the way they met (Yamcha was putting up a board advertising for fights) and by the way his eyes light up at the talk of sparring and training. The man tried to teach Okita how to gather his chi, but unfortunately, Okita's world doesn't possess such magic and so Okita failed the first few times. Because Yamcha can do something Okita can't, the swordsman is very interested in getting to know him better - and possibly learniing his tricks. They sparred once as well, so Okita knows that they match well for talent even if their areas of expertise are different. He likes Yamcha quite a bit and wishes they could talk more often.
Emperor Peony
Okita met Peony through their mutal love of pigs - in Peony's case, rappigs. They both have the little porkers for pets and love them dearly, so it was easy to like the Emperor, especially after finding out he was, in fact, an emperor. Okita isn't used to dealing with royalty, but Peony seems rather down to earth for a noble - if a bit silly. Okita remembers his prank during the body swap experiment when he made the pink haired man, Dist, proclaim that Peony was the best ruler ever, and Dist's reaction. Judging from how everyone who knew him reacted, too, Okita could tell that Peony was a bit of a jokester, so he liked him just that little bit more. Lately, he hasn't seen or heard Peony around, which is a bit worrisome.
Wesley Wyndham-Pryce
It's been awhile since Okita last saw Wesley, which makes the swordsman worry a bit. Wesley is a good enough guy, somewhat a stickler for rules, but very polite and good-natured. He does, however, have a last name that Okita can't pronounce for the life of him, so the swordsman generally avoids saying Wesley's last name. As unusual as it is for him to speak to someone older or in a higher position by his first name, he really has no choice when confronted with the hyphenated Wyndham-Pryce name. Okita also knows that Wesley has some issues regarding Fred, a girl from his world who has appeared from a different timeline - one that evidently changed a lot between the two of them. Okita likes talking to Wesley, but since the Watcher went quiet awhile ago, he's been wondering where he went.
Okita and Stitch met each other during the fourth wall event, but due to the nature of that experiment - neither remembered each other save for vague impressions. Stitch seems like a pet, somewhat resembling a dog or strange rabbit, and yet he speaks and is sentient and intelligent. Okita isn't sure what Stitch is, but he came to his aid again when he heard Stitch looking for his family. Stitch gave Okita a present during the holidays, too, and Okita is very grateful, and somewhat touched. Even if Stitch can be destructive, Okita likes him and hopes he can help Stitch find a new home and a new family to help take care of him.
Bachika Kinon
Okita and Kinon haven't spoken much, but they both share a general dislike for Hyuuga after he pulled that nasty portal stunt. Kinon also seems to want a bit of revenge, but Okita isn't sure what form that will take. Otherwise, she seems like an inquisitive person, alert, polite and courteous. He will be keeping an eye on her to see if they can't get to know each other better in the future.
Kimura Kouichi
The poor kid. Okita found him stuck on a rooftop after the Malnosso returned him from his kidnapping. Since he seemed to be in trouble, Okita helped him off the roof and let Kouichi take his haori to warm up. Not knowing where else to take him (and because the kid was cursed to sound like a goat whenever he talked for a bit), Okita brought him to the Welcome Center and fed him, allowing him to warm up and get some rest. He's a nice boy and Okita wonders what he's like when he's not half-frozen and talking like a goat.
They ended up hanging out quite a bit until Kouichi vanished, too. Up until then, Okita would often listen to the boy's troubles and help him try to find his friends and his brother as one by one they disappeared. Then, one day, Kouichi joined them and Okita lost another friend.
Lilly Pendragon
She was bored and stuck in the Clinic, something Okita could relate to very well following his stint in there. Since she asked for a book, Okita took some to her (adventure books, even) and some sweets. She seemed to enjoy the sweets a great deal and that left an impression on Okita, since he also likes to eat sweet things. She also told him about 'ice cream' and he's been trying to figure out what it is and how it's made. Lilly herself seems to be someone accustomed to having people do things for her, which doesn't bother Okita too much as long as she doesn't try to order him. Other than that, he likes her just fine, but he doesn't know much about her yet.
Horatio Caine
Horatio Caine - what a strange enigma. Okita is used to seeing surveys and questions go up, but the ones Guy posts and the ones Horatio posts are quite different in his eyes. It's obvious that Caine is asking questions for a specific reason - most recently when he asked about the portal in order to find a pattern. The man is a 'detective' from 'Miami Dade' which is a place that means little to Okita, but he recognizes Horatio as a fellow officer of the law, and that's the most important thing. He does wonder, however, what he's doing with all the information he's been gathering.
Such an odd duck, but a good soul and an interesting person. Luna-san is the first "witch" I ever met, and she left a big impression on me when I saw her causing pumpkins to move on their own. I never imagined that such things could be done, and by a such a young girl, too! I find her skills fascinating, and her strange behavior appealing. She speaks of things I don't understand, but I've learned that she's willing to explain - even if her explanations sometimes make less sense. Regardless, I do like to hang out with her, just to see what she's up to. The world she lives in is so much richer than anything I've ever experienced before, even if it sounds like her eccentricity alienated her a good deal back home.I haven't heard or seen her around much lately. I hope she's doing well.
