[Souji is at home and it's too quiet. He ends up talking to Saizou, his pig, for company a lot lately and this time, Saizou steps on the journal as he's talking, picking up bits and pieces of their one-sided conversation.]

--nder...why...--that some ......--ile others go, Saizou?

[The pig grunts and Souji laughs softly, sounding tired and worn.]

Mm...yes, I suppose we'll never know.....--haps....world returns.....--work still left to complete; and leaves ...... --no longer necessary.

[He's quiet for a moment and then lets out a heavy sigh, dismissing his own thoughts.]

No, that's silly. ....--ing me the jour--....

[The microphone picks up the muffled bumps and thumps as Saizou bites the journal and brings it over for Souji. He presses the on button again, unaware that it was already recording. When he addresses everyone, he's much chipper like he always, no trace of his earlier stress.]



I learned a new game so I have a question for everyone~

Would you rather eat nothing but your favorite food forever or never eat your favorite food again?

Also, it has been quite awhile, but anyone who knew my other self, Hijikata-san or Chizuru-chan; they've all returned to their homes.

Somewhat. I've heard of others having well trained pigs as pets before, but I haven't worked with them myself. I was simply curious.

I've raised Saizou since he was born. Perhaps getting them young is the key to training them well.

Do you have other pets?

There are a couple cats in our household, yes. Nothing like some of the fancier, ah... 'pets' I've seen around.

Will it grow very large?

Hm~ You enjoy cats then? We have a fish and a giant yellow bird and a chicken, too. But only the giant yellow bird is trained very well.

Saizou... [He looks down at the pig who snorts back up at him.] He should, yes, but not by much more than he is already. He's no longer a piglet, after all.

My... family worked with cats on occasion. I'm usually more of a bird person, but I've become attached to these.

[The hesitation in front of family is odd. He looks at the journal for a moment before responding.]

Is your family still here?

Hm? I only have one family member here. The others never were. I spoke of them back on the world I came from.

[Nothing unusual about that.]

[Perhaps just a longing then, at least as far as Souji sees it.]

Do you keep the cats together then? With your family here?

[yourhatred]

I keep them with my partner.

My brother is young and rebellious, and prefers to live on his own.

[That's one way of putting it, at least.]

Siblings have a way of being that way.

Who is your partner, if I may ask?

[Souji only has cursory interaction with the pirates, weirdly enough.]

Do you help him at his clinic, too?

Occasionally.

I'm not too highly trained in the medical arts, however, and there are a good many others who are that work with him instead.

I would hope you haven't had to spend much time at the clinic yourself. At least not as a patient.

Mm...not anymore. [After dying, he was much better.] I go occasionally, but only for small things like everyone else.

What arts are you better trained in?

Though I'm working on the horticultural.

Those seem like very different skills. Why horticulture?

At the risk of sounding cliche... because everyone needs a hobby.

It has some use if you enjoy it. That is, after all, what a hobby is for.

It does do wonders at keeping one occupied.

Do you enjoy horticulture? How long have you been doing it?

I would say I enjoy it, yes. It has taken over much of my free time since my arrival here.

[And he has an awful lot of free time.]

Do you run a garden here? Or the farms?

[yourhatred]

I have a garden, yes. Nothing so grand as a farm.

[ahappylie]

Farms are rather difficult work, aren't they? What sort of things do you grow in your garden?

[yourhatred]

Vegetables, mostly. I know the grocery here provides them, but there's a certain satisfaction that comes with growing your own.
