057 [ audio & action ]
[Action: Noon, August 21st]
[It's strange to be back so suddenly. One moment he's stuck underground and the next he's waking up, staring up at blue sky and feeling the hot rays of the sun. He's pretty sure he's tanning up here, but it doesn't really matter. It's just nice to see the sun again and feel unrestrained for the first time in so long. After staying like that for a few minutes, he finally sits up and takes stock of where he is.
Which is apparently on top of one of the shops in the town square. Getting down will be problematic.
Before he can call to the people he sees down below, however, he suddenly hears something. The song starts up and keeps playing in the background even as he twists and turns to see where the thing is coming from.]
...I hope I'm not the only one who can hear that.
[Audio]
[In the background, this song can be heard quite noticeably.]
Hm~ I guess it isn't so bad. [He laughs a little.] I've been gone for quite awhile it seems. House 50? How is everyone doing?

If Souji is looking anywhere downwards, he might notice someone standing still and looking up amidst the moving crowd of people in the plaza. Heeeey, Souji, heeey.]

He spots someone staring up at him from the mill of people down below and waves, smiling. In fact, he had seen this person carrying books earlier, to and fro, for some time now and had been watching
like a creepersince the action had caught his interest. When the music goes into a lull, he calls down to him.]Hello! Are you done with your books?

They're all returned for the time being! I'm afraid they were quite overdue.
action;
Oh, I didn't realize books could be overdue here. How long did you have them for?
action;
What are you doing up there?
action;
As he finishes, the next song comes up. When the boy asks a question, Souji smiles.]
Having roles reversed on me for once. The Malnosso returned me here and I can't get down.
action;
Do you need a ladder?
action;
That would be nice, yes. I've been up here for quite some time now. Do you have one available?
action;

I know you from somewhere, don't I?

Do you?

[He stops when the song changes to this.]

[Uh...]
I wonder why it keeps changing.

It's still far too soft (though he picks up the fact that whatever sound that is, the beat's changed a bit. Not quite sure if it's worth saying anything about for the time being.]
We can talk about it when you get down. I'll go look for a ladder, all right?

Approximately ten minutes later, Leo emerges with a ladder. It's a long one, so he has to be careful enough not to knock anyone as he exits the shop.
Is it long enough to reach Souji though, that's a good question.]

Souji looks down when the boy comes back and scoots over a little. It seems long enough to reach! If just barely. This might be tricky.]
Oh! Welcome back~ I see you found a good one.

[And those were stepladders too. Either way, the ladder will land on the wall with a dull thud though it takes Leo a few tries before he gets it at a safe enough angle.
...he'll probably have to hold it from the bottom, just in case. Come on down, Mr Strange Man and His Music.]

[Once the ladder is settled, Souji gets up and moves over to it, gingerly setting foot on the second rung. Do you have it steady, little bookworm? Because he's going to start climbing down and may just land on you if you don't.]

Though he's squinting a little at the increasing volume of Souji's background music...]

Souji gets about 3/4 of the way down and has to cling to the ladder as it wavers.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh---
Oops.
Nope, he's falling down now, Leo. The music will definitely be louder now because he's crashing down into the bushes.]

The bushes are thankfully soft enough to break his fall (and hopefully thick enough to prevent death via concussion) but Leo gasps when the ladder goes a-clatter onto the ground and-- hurries over to check on Souji. He's not sure where the music is coming from, but he'll be talking louder and hopefully over it!]
Are you-- [alive?] all right?

He laughs.]
Yes, I think I am. Can you help me though?
[He holds a hand out for help out of the tangled mess.]

That being said, he'll oblige and give Souji a hand up.]
