I think Saizou tracked something in with him the last time he was out. Silly pig. [There's a muddy hoof print on the journal where Saizou objects.]

Hm~ Welcome to all the new people! I hope you're doing well! I know it can be quite confusing when you first arrive in Luceti, but feel free to come by the Welcome Center.

[Forget medicine; Susumu is looking for you at home. He is armed with a medical kit and he is not afraid to use it.]

[Sup, Medical-Nin. Okita is in bed on his stomach, Saizou sleeping on his lower back, reading a book. Totally nonchalant. And...stuff.]

[Susumu uses his doctor powers of authority to let himself in, case in hand, and shuts the door behind himself. Without a word he steps over to the bed, pulling up a chair.]

[Unexpected ninja is a little unexpected. Okita glances up from his book and looks at Susumu.]

....? What's with this serious face? You look waaaay too old like that.

[Sitting down, opening the bag. Stethoscope out. |Db]

Okita-san, you should take this seriously as well. Please open your robe.

[...Ew, it's that thing. It's always cold. 8(

Okita sighs and coughs a bit, then sits up, sending Saizou rolling off. The pig gets up and grunts, burrowing under the covers instead.]

Maybe all of you shouldn't take it so seriously.

[He pulls his kimono off his shoulders and lets it gather around his waist.]

Other than the fever, I'm really okay.

Susumu pays little attention to his patient's comment, lifting the scope to press it against Okita's chest, listening for a heartbeat.]

It's better to be certain.

[Holy God, Akai, you just made me almost snort my tea.]

Nnnngh, it's cooooold.

[But he's being good and sitting still. Trying to breathe normally which he's sort of failing at.]

Susumu is unimpressed by his attempts, since you really cannot fool Doctor Ninja. He listens closely to his heartbeat and watches the way he breathes, checking his lungs and being very much not happy with what he finds. He then checks Okita's throat, lifting a little book afterwards and jotting down some notes.]

Okita pulls his robes back on once Susumu is done and looks at him.]

...How is it?

[Susumu's expression is a very carefully controlled mask as usual, but he closes his eyes as he shuts the book.]

I'll speak with McCoy-san. You're to stay indoors until I say otherwise.

...

[He watches Susumu for a moment and then smiles.]

I see. Alright.

[Susumu studies Okita right back, trying to determine whether or not he's taking the request seriously. Okita too often likes to sneak off and give his doctor heart attacks, after all.

It does seem genuine, though, so Susumu finally nods, tucking the journal away and rising to his feet.]

I'll bring back medicine to ease your coughing. In the meantime, focus on resting.

[And he'll flop back into bed, sighing in an over-exaggerated fashion.]

If you insist. It's just so boooooring.

[Yeah, that's no surprise.]

If you require anything, it can be brought to you.

[Or he could just drug you completely and tie you to the bed.]

[Do not drug him. It could have the opposite effect and then everyone will be screwed.]

[Also, he rolls over onto his side and looks at Susumu quietly for a moment.]

You must make Matsumoto-sensei so proud.

[Ohhh, how embarrassing. Susumu ducks his head slightly, accepting the compliment without letting his expression react in any way.]

I still have a great deal to learn. But you should know, Okita-san- it doesn't take a doctor's knowledge or compassion to understand that the ill should stay in bed. Please remember it.

[He laughs a bit and coughs a few times into his hand before snuggling in under the blankets.]

I'm sure he's still very proud of you.

And I know. ...I just can't help but want to be with everyone as long as I can.

[That makes Susumu pause, considering it for a moment.]

Your health doesn't seem to have changed one way or another during your stay here. Whether the nature of Luceti itself or something else is keeping it from progressing, I cannot tell, but it may be fair to assume that you will remain as healthy as you are now for some time. You can afford a few days rest when it's needed.

I'm glad to hear it.

[Although he wonders how much of that is true. Perhaps it is moving slower though, or not moving at all. He can hope for the latter, but he thinks it might be the former.]

But if it isn't really getting any worse, then after this cold is over, I'm free to go, right?

[Susumu isn't positive about that one either, but until he sees signs to the contrary, it's what he's going to believe. He's already vowed to keep Okita alive no matter what, after all.]

If you promise to watch your health and be honest with me of any changes.
