Cakes and pies.

Are amazing.

[After his discussion with Jade about cakes and pies, Okita decided to try some. Like two of each. He's on a pretty intense sugar-rush and will be bouncing around House 50 and all over the village to try and work out the extra energy.

Feel free to run into him and wonder why this grown adult is giggling at nothing or playing with just about anything he finds.

I've never had them before! They're so good! A little bit heavy on the 'cream' thing, but I took that off and wow, they're still really good.

Just wait until you get into the different types for each. [he should not be encouraging this]

I don't know the names of them, but I took two cakes and two pies and I think one of them had fruit in it, but the other one had all this weird colored stuff on it and it was sweet, but it wasn't the kind of sweet I liked, but when I took it off, it was okay.

[No, Sanji. You should not be encouraging his sugar-high.]

What kind of cake do you like? Oh! Or do you like pie better? This is so hard to keep straight.

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
You probably mean the frosting.

Never thought about it, really. I don't think I have a preference.

As for which cakes I like, I've got a soft spot for Opéra gateau.

[Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
But it's nothing like ice - why do they call it frosting?

I'm supposed to choose and I can't figure out which on--

....What's that? Opera gateau? [And yes, he mangles the pronunciation horribly.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe because traditional frosting or icing is white. [actually, that's just a guess. He's gonna have to look this up later] Like a morning glaze, it gently coats and enhances the presentation.

[F-fffff. Gonna fight back a wince]

It's a multi-layered cake made up of 3 layers. Generally made of almond joconde sponge cake soaked in coffee-rum syrup, and alternating layers of coffee french buttercream and chocolate ganache. Then there's a chocolate glaze poured over the entire thing, and traditionally, the word “opera” is written on the glaze of each piece for some reason. Never did figure that part out.

..........Ooooooooooh. [Well, even if it's a guess, it satisfied Souji's curiosity.] But it still tastes weird.

[Also his attention span is crap, but he tries his best to listen even though he knows like....almost none of those words. He picks out almond, cake, coffee, rum, syrup and chocolate. The rest is like "Whaaaaaaaaa?"]

Is it tasty?

.......................Oooooooooh. [Even if it's a guess, that satisfied Souji's curiosity just fine. He wouldn't know the difference after all.] It still tastes weird though.

[FRENCH is not his forte. Or anything that isn't Japanese. He's such a failbutt. Kind of LJ is for eating my comment, wtf.

Anyway, he listens as best he can even though his attention span is total crap right now. He tries, but he can only really understand a few of those specialized words like almond, cake, coffee, rum, syrup and chocolate. The rest is beyond him.

Heh, if you ever stop by for cake at the restaurant, I'll make a note of it.

[It's alright, he is forgiven. LJ is not.]

And it wouldn't be a favorite of mine if it wasn't. Though it might be too sweet for you.

Try a sponge cake next time. It doesn't usually have frosting on it.

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Sanji-san is so nice~!

[LJ is horrible to meeee. /weep]

I'll try it!

....and even if it's too sweet, can I still try some? It sounds so interesting.

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
That's fine. If you don't like it, I'll finish the rest.

[Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
You can eat a whole cake by yourself?

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[s-shudder]

Alright, let me rephrase that:

If you don't finish it, my crew will.

Oh, okay. That'll work then~ One of your friends say you make candy cotton or something sometimes, too, so I bet he'd eat it!

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know Chopper'll help with that. If he's lucky to get a piece before my captain does.

Do a lot of your friends like sweets? You're so lucky~

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Most of them.

But not sure how that's considered "lucky".

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Only a few of my friends here will eat them with me - well, one, really. Nagakura-san but the rest won't really touch them. Well, maybe Ayumu-san will, but Hijikata-san calls them brat food and Yamazaki-san just stares at me when I ask him.

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
They can always eat something else while you have your cake or pie. Not that hard.

[Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughs] Oh, it's not that - it's that I really would prefer to eat only sweets. Hijikata-san thinks I eat them too much, but that's just silly, right?

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Sorry, Okita. You're talking to a nutritionist.]

Depends on everything else you're eating. Nothing but sweets and your body won't get the nutrients it needs to function properly.

... That and it can make you fat.

[Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Buuuu, why does everyone think I only eat these? Ayumu-san makes sure we're fed very well!

And I'm not fat!

[Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm not.

.....there's some left. I wonder if I should save it.

[Voice]

[identity profile] oda-hates-me.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Of course you should save it. Or otherwise give it to someone else.

There's no point wasting perfectly edible food.
