Is everyone getting settled in?

That was certainly a strange time for a New Feather wave! I hope you're all doing well, and that you know the Welcome Center is here to help you. Several people have mentioned it already, but if residents would keep an eye open for the stragglers? There are probably going to be a few of those...

[He pauses and then switches subjects]

Hijikata-san~ I have something I need to tell you.

And for the rest of my new roommates~ Perhaps we should move? We are getting a little cramped, after all. I've located a suitable house that has enough rooms for everyone. What do you think?

No, probably not. But that was my incredibly roundabout way of making a point. Sorry.

At least you made your point though!

Yes, but now you probably think I'm insane. [He's really kind of teasing, though]

Oh, trust me. I know a lot of people I'd call insane and you're not one of them.

Really?

Someone is more insane than Sunnydale. I'm not entirely sure whether to be encourage or depressed.

There are many insane people in the world, Giles-san. You sound like the most sane of them so far. Even if your adventures are a little odd.

Compared to this place? Yes, I suppose "a little odd" might actually be an appropriate descriptor.

How about you? Did you ever have any odd happenings back home?

Oh....a few, I suppose. Nothing that can compare to being turned into a demon through alcohol though.

[Just crazy leaders who set fire to warehouses of people he didn't like and who Souji and his friends eventually assassinated, along with a weird aristocrat turning people into zombies and trying to destroy the Shinsengumi through black magic and stuff. Nothing too weird.]

That was just the one day. The only thing particularly unique about it was that I was off my head enough to let it happen in the first place. Especially considering who I was drinking with, at the time.

If you're ever quite that bored, I can tell you about the times the world nearly ended.

Drinking company is also very important, yes. At least, that's what some people sa--

[Just a little too nonchalant] Times, yes.

And vampires. Or Hellgods.

Is he a friend of yours'?

Yes! He sees spirits and things like that - things the rest of us can't see.

Doesn't sound like an ability you'd actually want to have. Granted, seeing spirits is one thing I can't do, so I wouldn't know.

It would explain why he's so gloomy all the time.

....or maybe not. He's Hajime-san. It's how he is.

Does it come up a lot? The ghosts, I mean.

1840s Japan over other places in particular? I'm not too familiar with the time period.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[It takes him awhile to figure out if 1840 is right or not]

Ah, 1860s, I think. But no, it's less the time and more the place. Kyoto is the capital and has been for a very long time - there have been many wars and many people who came here seeking refuge only to find none and perish in unhappiness. Hajime-san tells me stories of the ghosts he sees sometimes. Usually they're never very happy.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2010-09-10 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Typically if a ghost manifests at all, it's not very happy.

[Then, because his description of Kyoto was a little too...firsthand] Still. There doesn't seem to much in the way of ghosts or demons here. That's something, I suppose.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] ahappylie.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, I suppose. [He laughs a bit.]

Yes, there doesn't seem to be. I wouldn't know the difference, but I suppose Hajime-san would be a bit happier here.
